ABOUT YATA NORWAY
YATA (Youth Atlantic Treaty Association) Norway is a youth organisation under the Norwegian Atlantic Committee (DNAK) constructed to raise awareness of security, defense and foreign policy issues among young professionals, students and cadets. Anyone is welcome as a member, you do not have to be an expert in the field. Your interest to learn and participate in our network is more than enough.
YATA Norway is politically independent and does not represent any special interest group or sponsor. Everyone in YATA is a volunteer and membership is available for anyone. We have six local chapters who are active in Oslo, Bergen, Trondheim, Stavanger, Tromsø and Kristiansand. In addition, a national executive board situated in Oslo is responsible for administration and national projects.
YATA Norway’s activities include events like embassy visits and lectures from politicians, military leaders and scientists, as well as visits to military bases and workshops. We also have more informal social events where we focus on discussion and network building. We believe that engaging in political debate should be both fun and educational. YATA is one of the biggest organisations in Norway for young people with an interest for security, defense and foreign policy. Join us by becoming a member (50 kr annually) here.
The pictures presented below may give you an idea of all that the Norwegian local chapters have to offer; quiz, visits to different ministries and embassies, up-to-date and interesting lectures about topics related to foreign, security and military policy.
