
Jenssen is the Director is the Director of the Private Office of the NATO Secretary General.
Mr. Stian Jenssen is the Director of the Private Office of the NATO Secretary General. He started working at the Permanent Norwegian Delegation to NATO more than a decade ago before being headhunted to the Private Office by then Secretary General Fogh Rasmussen. Mr. Jenssen has been Secretary General Stoltenberg’s right hand since he started his tenure at NATO, first as his security advisor in 2014 and Director of the Private Office since 2017.
Mr. Jenssen has key responsibilities both in developing NATO policy and running the entire International Staff, counting 1200 personnel, on a daily basis. Prior to his time at NATO, Mr. Jenssen worked as a Senior Adviser in the Department of Security Policy in the Norwegian Ministry of Defence. He holds a Master of Arts in International Politics and Security Studies, as well as a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) from the University of Bradford. Mr. Jenssen also holds a Bachelor of Science with Honors in International Relations from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
