Vidar Benjamin Skretting is a research fellow at FFI (Norwegian Defence Research Establishment). His PhD research focuses on jihadism in the Sahel region, as part of FFI’s TERRA-project. Skretting has a BA and MPhil in Arabic, Persian and Middle Eastern Studies from the University of Oxford (2018). His latest publications include “Al-Qaida in the Islamic Maghrib’s Expansion in the Sahara: New Insights from Primary Sources,” (2020), and “Ansar Al-Sharia in Libya”, (2017, with Henrik Gråtrud).
